2024 has been an unforgettable year
-
one of growth, unity, and resilience.
We connected with thousands of members across the state, deepened relationships with our partners to better serve our members and our state, and made history when we charted a course of autonomy, opening 11 regional branches in less than a year. See how the events and the people of 2024 have shaped our future.

CIVIC love NC
Local Government
Local government employment isn’t just a job - it’s a calling.
Local government employees take pride in serving communities and making lives better. That’s why we connected with some Civic members who offered to share their “local government love.” These community cheerleaders take accountability for the way North Carolina’s towns, cities and counties are run and how residents are served.
Scroll through the profiles below to read why they love being a part of local government.

Community Impact

Our impact isn’t only about helping Civic members bank better -

it’s about helping North Carolinians live better.

The Civic Foundation funds educational scholarships and nonprofit grants in a holistic approach to building a stronger North Carolina. Civic is a community partner, touching the lives of those who live in, work in, and support our towns, cities and counties. Here are a few highlights from 2024.

As a not-for-profit financial institution, Civic is member-owned and depends on member participation for its guidance and success. That’s where you come in! Please consider volunteering if you’re not an active part of a Civic Credit Union volunteer group.
Volunteering with Civic fosters a sense of pride and belonging among our members and can support the financial well-being of others, while helping to build stronger communities.
“Volunteering with Civic has given me a voice in shaping the very financial services and products I depend on. It’s more than just oversight—it’s about ensuring every member’s needs are heard and protected. Knowing I’m part of a team that stands up for more than 400,000 fellow members inspires me every day. There’s no better way to truly have a say in your financial future than by lending your time and expertise to help guide the credit union forward..”
Justin Merritt
Supervisory Committee
“As a Deputy County Manager, I’ve dedicated my career to responsible stewardship of public resources. That same commitment to accountability and service drives my work as Chair of Civic’s Supervisory Committee. By volunteering, we ensure every member’s voice is heard—and that the credit union’s operations remain transparent, secure, and aligned with our shared community values. I believe that when we bring our expertise and passion for public service to Civic, we help shape a financial future that truly benefits every member.”
